Yunxiao LIU
physicist & tool-builder

Physics student at TU München, working on single crystals with magnetism. When experiments generate more data than insight, I write code. I build data pipelines, measurement tooling, and visualization apps — occasionally they're even reusable. Outside the lab I run a homelab on a Raspberry Pi, bouldering when my fingers allow, and cook whenever the fridge cooperates.

Projects

pySpinW 2026 – present

Contributor to the pySpinW development team for SpinW for Python, an open-source package for magnon calculations and scattering simulations. I contribute code and collaborate with maintainers on extending the Python ecosystem for spin-wave modelling.

PPMS ToolKit 2024 – present

A pip-installable Python library for managing and visualizing Quantum Design PPMS data (VSM, Heat Capacity). Ships a Qt6 GUI with customizable plot legends, curve toggling, and automatic ZFC/FC mode detection. Backed by SQLite + Parquet caching for fast repeated loading.

VSM Visualizer 2025

Lightweight desktop viewer for PPMS VSM data. Split-panel UI with a file browser and live matplotlib preview, distributed as a standalone .exe — no installation required.

Trade Republic → Beancount 2025

CLI tool that parses Trade Republic PDF account statements and converts them into Beancount-compatible plain-text accounting transactions.

Recipe App 2025

Full-stack household recipe manager with ingredient inventory tracking, expiration alerts, and per-household data isolation. Integrates an OpenAI-compatible LLM API (Mistral) for AI-powered meal suggestions based on available ingredients.
